SALT LAKE CITY—University of ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê Hospital has earned the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services 5-Star rating for overall quality. Less than 10 percent of academic medical centers nationwide received this highest possible distinction.
The CMS's ratings are based on mortality rates, safety of care, readmission rates, patient experience, effectiveness and timeliness of care, and use of medical images.

CMS rates more than 3,600 hospitals nationwide. Just 9 percent of hospitals received five stars while 31 percent received 4 stars, 32 percent received three stars, 20 percent received 2 stars and 7 percent received one star.
University of ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê Hospital is among 337 hospitals nationwide and six hospitals in ¼«ËÙÁùºÏ²Ê to be named Five-Star hospitals.
